E-Commerce Website Design: An Online Store Ready to Sell
An e-commerce website is the design and launch of an online store that lists your products, takes payment, calculates shipping and manages orders. Product and category structure, original store design, payment gateway and carrier integration, invoicing settings, speed optimization and 12 months of post-launch support are all in scope. Delivery is verified with a test order placed on a real card.
// Who is an e-commerce website for?
An e-commerce website is for manufacturers, retailers and brands that want to sell through their own channel and are tired of paying marketplace commission. Setting up a store is not just uploading products; unless payment, shipping, invoicing and stock flow are built together, the first order stalls halfway and the customer never returns. If any of the following sounds familiar, you are on the right page.
- Your products sell only on marketplaces and you own none of the customer data
- The current store is slow on mobile and cart abandonment is above 80%
- Orders, shipping and invoices are handled by hand, with errors and delays
- You have a physical shop and want to start selling online
We follow the same process for a 50-product boutique and a 5,000-product catalogue; only the import time and the number of integrations change.
// What is included and what is not
The project is a one-off setup and launch job; post-launch store support is offered as a separate plan. The table below lists what a standard project includes and what stays outside, line by line. You sign the payment and carrier contracts yourself; we give commission-free advice on which providers to choose, and that boundary is written in the quote.
| Work | Standard project |
|---|---|
| Scoping call, product and category structure plan | Included |
| Original store design, 2 revision rounds | Included |
| Product, category, cart, checkout and account pages | Included |
| Product import (up to 500 products, with variations) | Included |
| Payment gateway and carrier integration | Included |
| VAT, e-invoicing provider and order email settings | Included |
| Mobile compatibility, speed optimization, product schema and basic SEO | Included |
| Test order, cancellation and refund on a real card | Included |
| CMS training (2 hours) and 12 months of bug fixing | Included |
| Import above 500 products, marketplace integration | Priced separately |
| Product photography and description writing | Priced separately |
| Payment provider, carrier, hosting and invoicing fees | Excluded |
Problems on an existing WooCommerce store are a separate service under WooCommerce support; the store's search visibility is described on the e-commerce SEO page.
// How does it work and how long does it take?
A typical store launches within 6 to 8 weeks; the duration depends on product count and the number of integrations. Coding does not start until the design is approved, and integrations are not handed over until they are verified on the provider's side. Launch happens only after a real-card test order succeeds, and the 12-month bug-fix guarantee is written in the quote.
Scope and product structure (1 week)
Product groups, variations, payment and shipping providers, tax status and delivery rules are documented
Design (1 to 2 weeks)
Home, category and product pages are designed and approved through 2 revision rounds
Setup and integrations (2 weeks)
The store is built; payment, carrier and invoicing connections are verified on the provider side
Product import (1 to 2 weeks)
Products, images, stock and prices are imported and verified against a checklist
Testing and launch (1 week)
Order, cancellation and refund are tried on a real card; speed and mobile tests run and the store launches
// How is the price determined?
Three variables set the price: number of products and variations, number of integrations (gateway, carrier, invoicing, marketplace) and special functions (B2B pricing, subscriptions, multiple languages). A 100-product store with one gateway and a 3,000-variation store with two gateways and a marketplace link do not carry the same workload, so we quote from the scoping call rather than a fixed list. The call is free and the quote is fixed once the product structure is approved.
Payment is split into three stages: start, design approval and launch. Source files, access details and integration documents are handed over at launch. The first month of store support after launch is free.
// Results we have delivered
The three cases below represent different store types. We do not share client names without permission, so sector and scale are given instead; figures come from the store panel and analytics measured 3 months after launch. All three stores were built by Zep Bilisim and delivered with a test order.
- Cosmetics brand, 300 products — Broke free of marketplace dependence; 412 orders from its own store in the first 90 days, with an average basket 28% above the marketplace
- Food producer, 120 products — Cold-chain shipping rules and region-based delivery were set up; the cancellation rate fell from 11% to 2%
- Furniture store, 600 products — The old store was rebuilt; mobile PageSpeed rose from 31 to 84 and cart abandonment fell from 82% to 61%
The only thing that proves an online store works is a completed order. That is why we deliver with a real-card order, not a screenshot.
// The team behind the work
The project is led by Caner Zep Çelik, founder of Zep Bilisim. As founder and technical consultant he has worked on e-commerce platforms, payment integrations and WordPress development since 2020 and has been involved in more than 100 projects. He builds the product structure, the integrations and the test order himself and works alongside the design team on the visuals.
The handover document is written by the same person: how each integration was set up, where the shipping and tax rules live, how the order flow works and where the backup is. The document stays with you as the store's technical guide.
// When is it not needed?
For a business with a handful of orders a month and a single product, a full store is unnecessary; a simple order page with a payment link is cheaper and we say so plainly in the scoping call. If all sales come from marketplaces and brand awareness is still low, marketplace optimization may be more productive first; we say so too and set the order together.
If an existing store's only problem is the payment or shipping integration, technical support is needed rather than a new store.
Google's e-commerce SEO guide explains from the official source how product and category pages should be structured; our store templates are built to it.
// Frequently Asked Questions
In a standard project we use WooCommerce on WordPress: compatible with the common payment gateways, carriers and e-invoicing providers, owned by you and free of monthly platform fees. If product count or functional needs call for a different platform, we present it with reasons in the scoping call; the decision is yours.
An Excel or CSV list is converted to the standard template and imported with variations, stock, prices and images; up to 500 products are included. Marketplace listings can be exported and cleaned up. After import, 20 random products are checked by hand, the result written in the handover report, and a list of missing images or descriptions sent to you.
You do; we present which provider suits you on commission, instalments and integration quality, and help you prepare the application documents. We build the technical connection and test it on the provider's side. Because we take no commission, the advice is neutral, and that rule is written plainly in the quote.
Yes. Adding products, updating prices and stock, tracking orders and setting up promotions are done from the CMS; a 2-hour training session is given at handover along with a guide. For technical changes you reach us under the 12-month support. For continuous updates and testing, monthly store support is recommended separately.
For 12 months, faults that stop the store working are fixed free of charge: payment flow, shipping calculation, order emails, update-related problems. New functions, design changes and product additions are outside support and quoted separately. Testing updates on staging is included in monthly store support and recommended separately.
Product schema, category structure and basic SEO are set up at handover; that gets the store crawled and products shown with prices. Ranking for competitive product searches needs continuous work and is a separate service. We keep the two apart and promise no rankings; in the first months we recommend planning ads and the organic channel together.
