Local SEO: City Searches and Map Pack Visibility
Local SEO is the work of putting your business in front of people searching "near me" or with a city name, both in web results and in the map pack. Google Business Profile, name-address-phone consistency, local directory listings, location pages, review management and local schema are all in scope. The goal is for a customer searching in your service area to see you in the top 3.
// Who is local SEO for?
Local SEO is for businesses whose customers come from a specific city or region: clinics, law firms, restaurants, repair services, shops, workshops. In these searches Google uses different signals from national rankings; the business profile, distance, reviews and address consistency outweigh web content. If any of the following sounds familiar, you are on the right page.
- You do not appear in the map pack for "city + service" searches
- A Google Business Profile exists but is incomplete, unverified or in the wrong category
- Different phone numbers or addresses for your business circulate on different sites
- You have several branches and want each to be visible on its own
We apply the same method to a single-location business and a 20-branch chain; only the number of locations and the directory list change.
// What is included and what is not
The service comes as a one-off setup or a monthly tracking plan. The table below lists what each includes and what stays outside, line by line. In-depth optimization of the Google Business Profile is a separate service; local SEO covers the basic setup and consistency, while profile content and review strategy are described on that page.

// How does it work and how long does it take?
Setup takes 5 to 8 business days for one branch; each additional branch adds 1 to 2 days. Map pack results move faster than web rankings: profile and consistency fixes show an effect within 2 to 4 weeks, while location pages take 6 to 10 weeks to rank on the web. On monthly tracking, rankings are measured by location.
Analysis (1 to 2 days)
Target searches, current map and web rankings, competitor profiles and inconsistent listings are documented
Profile and consistency (2 days)
The business profile is corrected and verified; inconsistent address and phone listings are fixed
Directories and schema (1 to 2 days)
Listings are created on the first 20 local sources and LocalBusiness schema is set up
Location pages (1 to 2 days)
A separate page is written and published for each branch or service area
Tracking (monthly)
Location-based rankings, reviews and profile engagement are reported
// How is the price determined?
Three variables set the price: number of branches, local competition in the sector and how scattered the existing listings are. A single-location workshop and a 15-branch clinic chain do not carry the same workload, so we quote from the local visibility analysis rather than a fixed list. The analysis is free and the quote is fixed once it is done; the per-branch price is shown separately.
Monthly tracking has no contract. Some directory listings are on paid platforms; those fees are shown on a separate line in the quote and no listing is made without your say-so.
// Results we have delivered
The three cases below represent different local situations. We do not share client names without permission, so sector and scale are given instead; rankings come from a location-based tracking tool and calls from business profile statistics. In all three the result was measured within 3 months and tracked in the Zep Bilisim monthly report.
- Dental clinic, single location — A wrong category and 7 inconsistent address listings were fixed; for "city + dentist" the map pack position moved from 9 to 2
- Repair service, 4 districts — A service-area page was written for each district; calls from the profile rose from 34 to 118 a month
- Restaurant chain, 12 branches — 12 profiles were consolidated under one account and a review response flow set up; the average rating rose from 3.9 to 4.5
In a local search the customer does not see the best business; they see the one Google finds most consistent. Consistency is the first rule of local SEO.
// The team behind the work
The work is carried out by Caner Zep Çelik, founder of Zep Bilisim. As founder and technical consultant he has worked on search visibility, business profile management and web infrastructure since 2020 and has been involved in more than 100 projects. He does the profile setup and the consistency scan himself and does not outsource the work.
The monthly report is written by the same person: your position from each location for each search, how many calls and direction requests the profile brought, and which reviews were answered. The report stays with you as the record of local visibility.
// When is it not needed?
If your customers come from across the country or abroad and you have no physical location, local SEO is unnecessary; we say so plainly in the analysis and point you to national work. In a low-competition area with a single branch, fixing the business profile alone may be enough; in that case we do not recommend the monthly tracking plan.
If the site itself has technical problems, location pages will not rank; technical fixes come first, and we set that order in the analysis.
Google's local ranking documentation explains from the official source the relevance, distance and prominence signals behind map results; our plan is built around those three.
// Frequently Asked Questions
Google looks at three signals: relevance (category and content), distance (the searcher's location) and prominence (reviews, consistent listings, web authority). We cannot change distance; we strengthen the other two with category, consistency, a review flow and location pages. Results are measured by location; the city centre and outlying districts are reported separately.
Each branch gets its own business profile and its own location page, but the analysis, schema and directory listings are managed centrally. The per-branch price falls in steps. Showing several addresses on one profile breaks Google's rules and risks suspension, which is why a separate profile per branch is mandatory.
On monthly tracking, a change of address, phone or opening hours is updated by us across every directory and the profile; on a one-off setup you receive the change list and listing access. An old listing left inconsistent lowers map rankings, so changes are applied to every source within the same week.
No; fake reviews break Google's rules and get the profile suspended. What we do is set up a flow that makes it easy for real customers to leave a review, and answer incoming reviews on your behalf in a tone you approve. Draft replies to negative reviews are prepared and published after your approval, and response time is tracked in the report.
Profile and consistency fixes show in the map pack within 2 to 4 weeks; location pages take 6 to 10 weeks to rank on the web. The effect of the review flow is gradual and becomes clear after 3 months. The monthly report shows a location-based ranking chart alongside profile statistics.
Yes. In Google Business Profile the address is hidden and a service area is defined; the districts you travel to are listed on the profile. A separate page is written for each service area on the site, and LocalBusiness schema is set up with the service area. Even with a hidden address, verification is done by post or video and we manage the process.
