Google Business Profile SEO: Ranking in the Map Pack

kategori | kelime | öznitelik
✓ Profile matched to search queries

Business Profile SEO is the work of measuring and strengthening the three signals that decide Google's map pack ranking: relevance, distance and prominence. Matching profile content to target searches, name-address-phone consistency, review signals, the link between website and profile, and location-based rank tracking are all in scope. Profile optimization makes the profile correct; Business Profile SEO moves it ahead of competitors.

// Who is Business Profile SEO for?

Business Profile SEO is for businesses whose profile is complete yet cannot break into the top 3 of the map pack. A filled-in profile is no guarantee of ranking; Google picks from 20 profiles in the same category the one its signals say is most relevant, closest and most trusted, and until those signals are measured nobody knows which one is missing. If any of the following sounds familiar, you are on the right page.

  • The profile is complete but you sit beyond position 4 in the map pack for "city + service"
  • You show up in the city centre and vanish when searched from 3 kilometres away
  • A competitor with fewer reviews ranks above you
  • The number of calls from the profile has not grown for months

We apply the same measurement method to a single-location business and a multi-branch chain; only the number of tracked locations and searches change.

// What is included and what is not

The service runs as a monthly tracking plan; a one-off ranking analysis is also available. The table below lists what each includes and what stays outside, line by line. The profile's basic setup is a separate service and must be done first; this work strengthens the ranking signals of an already set-up profile, and that boundary is written in the quote.

// How does it work and how long does it take?

The ranking analysis takes 3 to 5 business days; monthly tracking then runs as a cycle. Relevance fixes show in location-based rankings within 2 to 4 weeks, consistency and review signals within 6 to 10 weeks. The distance signal cannot be changed, but visibility at distant points is raised with service areas and location pages, and that limit is written in the report.

01

Location-based scan (2 days)

Target searches are queried from the city centre and 5 to 9 other points; the position at each point is recorded

02

Signal analysis (1 to 2 days)

Relevance, distance and prominence are scored; the gap to competitors is shown per signal

03

Fix plan (1 day)

Which signal is strengthened by which step is written in priority order

04

Implementation (monthly)

Profile content, consistency, website link and review plan are carried out step by step

05

Measurement (monthly)

The same searches are repeated from the same points; the ranking chart and profile statistics are reported

// How is the price determined?

Three variables set the price: number of branches, number of tracked searches and location points, and the sector's local competition. A single-location business tracking 10 searches and an 8-branch chain tracking 40 do not carry the same measurement and implementation load, so we quote from the ranking scan rather than a fixed list. The scan is free and the quote is fixed once it is done; the per-branch price falls in steps.

Monthly tracking has no contract. For customers on the Zep Bilisim local SEO plan, profile SEO tracking is included and not billed separately.

// Results we have delivered

The three cases below represent different missing signals. We do not share client names without permission, so sector and scale are given instead; rankings come from a location-based tracking tool and calls from profile statistics, measured after 3 months. No method against the rules was used in any of the three, and the results were tracked in the Zep Bilisim monthly report.

  • Physiotherapy centre — The profile was complete but 7 directories carried a different phone number; the consistency fix moved it from position 6 to 2 in the map pack and calls rose from 48 to 131 a month
  • Removals company — A service area was defined and location pages built for 4 districts; visibility at points 5 kilometres from the centre rose from 12% to 71%
  • Beauty salon — A review plan brought 6 new reviews a month with service-named responses; it entered the top 3 for 4 searches and direction requests doubled
There are 3 places in the map pack and 20 businesses competing. Google picks not the best but the one whose signals are most consistent.

// The team behind the work

The work is carried out by Caner Zep Çelik, founder of Zep Bilisim. As founder and technical consultant he has worked on local search visibility, business profile management and web infrastructure since 2020 and has been involved in more than 100 projects. He runs the location-based scan, the signal analysis and the fix plan himself and does not outsource the work.

The monthly report is written by the same person: your position from each point for each search, how much each signal improved, where competitors stand and what is done next month. The report stays with you as the record of map visibility.

// When is it not needed?

If the profile is in the top 3 from every point for the target searches, this work is unnecessary; we say so plainly in the scan and recommend only a check every 3 months. If the profile is not yet verified or is incomplete, basic setup comes first; signal work is not applied to an empty profile, and we set that order accordingly.

If the problem is not ranking but a low rating and negative reviews, reputation management comes first; the scan shows with data which one weighs more and writes the order.

Google's local ranking documentation explains from the official source the relevance, distance and prominence signals that decide map results; our signal scoring is built on those three.

// Frequently Asked Questions

Optimization makes the profile correct and complete: category, services, photos, hours. Profile SEO measures where the set-up profile ranks in the map pack and strengthens the signals that decide it: consistency, review signal, website link, match with the target search. The first is the foundation, the second the competitive work; both are needed.

Map results change with the searcher's location; a business at position 1 from the city centre can be at 8 from 3 kilometres away. That is why ranking is measured not from one point but from 5 to 9 points spread across your service area and reported as a heat map. Visibility at distant points is raised with service areas and location pages.

Yes; review count, rating, frequency and the service names mentioned in them are part of the prominence signal. The review plan sets up a flow that makes it easy for real customers to leave regular reviews, and every review gets a response naming the service. Fake reviews are not used; Google detects them and suspends the profile.

It works but stays limited; Google also uses the site the profile links to as a signal. A site with a location page, LocalBusiness schema and service content clearly supports map rankings. If there is no site, we say so in the scan and show with data that even a single location page makes a difference; the decision is yours.

Relevance fixes show in location-based rankings within 2 to 4 weeks, consistency and review signals within 6 to 10 weeks. Because the same searches are measured from the same points every month, change rests on real data. The target for the first 3 months is written in the quote after the scan; progress is shown in the report and any signal that misses is replanned.

Yes; each branch is measured from its own points in its own service area and reported separately, while consistency and the website link are managed centrally. The per-branch price falls in steps. Ranking differences between branches are shown side by side in the report, and which signal the lagging branch lacks is written separately.
