Desktop application development is the writing of Windows programs that are installed on a computer, work without internet, and talk directly to printers, barcode scanners, scales or a local database. Specification, interface design, development, installer package, automatic updates and source code handover are all in scope. It is written for the work a browser cannot do: jobs that run on devices and files.

Desktop application development is for businesses working on the production floor, at the till, in the warehouse or in the lab, where a browser-based solution is not enough. A program that does not stop when the internet drops, connects directly to a printer or a device and processes large files locally cannot be met by a web application; a desktop program fills that gap. If the program must talk to a central server or web panel, it is planned together with web application development; connections to external systems fall under API and system integration.
// How does it work and how long does it take?
A single-screen tool takes 3 to 5 weeks, a multi-module program with device connections 2 to 4 months; the duration is written per module in the specification. Device integration is tested with the real device; for a device we do not have, a test day is scheduled at your premises. Bug fixing is guaranteed for 60 days after delivery.

// How is the price determined?
Three variables set the price: number of screens and modules, number of device integrations and whether offline sync is needed. A single-screen labelling tool and an 8-module, 3-device production tracker syncing with a central server do not carry the same workload, so we quote from the specification rather than a fixed list. The scoping call is free and the quote is fixed once the specification is approved.
The price does not rise during development; if the scope changes, extra work is added with written approval. Payment is split across module deliveries. No fee is charged per installation; 1 or 30 computers cost the same.

The three cases below represent different desktop needs. We do not share client names without permission, so sector and scale are given instead; figures come from delivery reports and client measurements. All three programs were tested by Zep Bilisim with real devices and delivered as installer packages.

A browser does not do everything: the warehouse whose internet drops, the till that talks to a scale and the report that processes a million rows overnight still want a desktop program.
// The team behind the work
The project is led by Caner Zep Çelik, founder of Zep Bilisim. As founder and technical consultant he has worked on software architecture and desktop and web application development since 2020 and has been involved in more than 100 projects. He writes the specification, analyses the device protocols and reviews the code himself, and delivers every module together with the development team.
The technical document is written by the same person: architecture, database structure, device connections, installation and update steps. The document lets another team take over the program later and stays with you.
// When is it not needed?
If the work needs access from anywhere, involves no devices and the internet is always on, a web application is the better choice; we say so plainly in the scoping call and point you there. If an off-the-shelf program covers 90% of the need, custom software is wasted money; we recommend the product and, if needed, write only the missing piece.
If the old program still runs without trouble and only needs backing up, we recommend backup and documentation rather than a rewrite, and set the order accordingly.

Most devices that communicate over serial port, USB or the network: label and receipt printers, barcode and QR scanners, scales, measuring instruments, card readers. The analysis reviews the device's protocol documentation; for devices without it a test day is scheduled. A device we do not have is tested at your premises and the result written in the report.
Yes; the program runs on a local database and syncs to head office when the connection returns. Conflict rules are written in the specification: if two stations change the same record, which one wins. That scenario is tested specifically in the field trial. If no central sync is needed, the program runs fully offline and backups are kept on the local disk.
Yes; data from Access, Excel, an old database or text files is cleaned and moved into the new structure. Migration is priced separately because the layout of old data differs in every project. A trial with sample data is done first and the result shown to you; a parallel-running period with the old program is planned and the transition happens without data loss.
The program is delivered with an automatic update mechanism: when a new version is published, every computer updates itself at startup with no manual installation. Local data is backed up before each update. Bug fixes during the 60-day support are distributed this way; later feature releases are quoted separately and published through the same mechanism.
As many as you like; we charge nothing per user or installation. The installer package and source code are yours. For multi-station use, the shared database and sync are planned in the specification; there is no licence difference between 1 and 30 computers. Adding a new computer is just running the installer.
Bug fixing is free for 60 days after delivery. After that, new feature requests are quoted separately, while version tracking and operating system compatibility come with a monthly maintenance plan. We maintain programs we built years later too; the technical document and version history make that continuity easy.
